Welcome to the Cyber London Conference 2018. We welcome cyber security and ICT professionals from across the public and private sectors to hear about and discuss the latest developments, strategies and technologies available to successfully defend organisations online. We hope that you will leave the conference with a deeper understanding of how to keep pace with the scale, complexity and ever-changing threat we face.

May sees the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Network and Information Security (NIS) Directive.   Both of these carry similar penalties, so the imperative to pay attention to cyber security has never been so pressing.  The former relates to anyone holding personally identifiable information and the latter to operators of essential services and digital service providers.  Whilst the Information Commissioners Office will oversee the implementation of the Data Protection Bill, the National Cyber Security Centre will be the single point of contact for incident notifications under the NIS Directive.  Even following the best available advice, it is doubtful that one can ever be 100% secure but at least it gives some defence against the punitive fines that are envisaged under this new legislation.

We have assembled a stimulating programme for the conference. We have an outstanding range of speakers drawn from public and private sectors, national agencies and major vendors and I look forward to a very interesting programme.
